Lockerbie bomber’s health ‘deteriorating’
December 20th, 2009 - 12:10 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Tripoli (Libya), Dec. 20 (ANI): Lockerbie bomber Abdel Basset al-Megrahi’s health is deteriorating, according to a Libyan hospital source.
A Sky News report quoted the Tripoli Medical Centre as saying in a statement that al-Megrahi’s condition has worsened and the cancer has spread throughout his body.
The 57-year-old arrived at the hospital on Saturday coughing and vomiting, the statement said.
“A scan has shown a worsening of the disease which has spread more than before,” it added.
Al-Megrahi was sentenced to life imprisonment for the 1988 bombing of a Pan Am passenger jet, which claimed the lives of 270 people.
The Scottish Government controversially released the Libyan from jail in August on compassionate grounds after he was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer. (ANI)
