London , May 26 (ANI): F1 driver Lewis Hamilton has called the moment he drove to victory at the rain-lashed Monaco GP the highlight of his life.
The victory, a 17-year-old dream, once again placed the 23-year-old Hertfordshire star back in the world championship standings.
Life will never get better than this. This has got to be the highlight of my career and I am sure it will continue to be the highlight for the rest of my life, The sun quoted Hamilton , as saying.
He added: I have always said that this is the one that I would want to win more than any other race in the world All the best drivers have won here, so I wanted to be able to do the same.
Hamilton even survived a crash in the pursuit to become the youngest British man to conquer in Monte Carlo and was preceded by Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill and David Coulthard.
The star racer dreamt of wining the title ever since he saw his idol Ayrton Senna winning one of his record six victories in 1991.
Even if I was to win here again, which I plan on doing, this will be the best one. Its the first one, said the McLaren driver.
He added: I remember on the last few laps I was just thinking that Ayrton won here a lot of times and to win here would be amazing. It is an incredible feeling. The last 20 laps were very emotional and I was just trying to count them down. But it seemed to take a bloody long time.
Hamilton s dad Anthony said: There are two dreams when you start out in F1 to win the world championship and win the Monaco Grand Prix. One down, one to go. (ANI)
