Kuala Lumpur, Jan 24(ANI): The Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) is in a leadership tussle with council member V.K.K. Teagarajan claiming that K.K. Eswaran is no longer the president.

“He failed to convene the annual delegates conference for 2009 by June 30 last year, even despite the extension granted by the Registrar of Societies (ROS), by November 20, which is a requirement under the constitution,” The Star quoted Teagarajan, as saying.

He also claimed that Eswaran failed to hold a special delegates conference, as directed by the ROS on September 9 last year.

Teagarajan further said that seven out of the 12 state chambers held a special meeting on October 5 last year and formed an interim committee to convene and proceed with the special delegates conference, which was held on January 11.

However, Eswaran said that the meeting convened by Teagarajan was illegal.

He said 58 of the 72 eligible delegates attended the annual delegates conference on January 16 when they unanimously passed a resolution to expel the Sabah chapter for acting against the interests of the parent body. (ANI)
