January 16th, 2012 - 6:43 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Colombo, Jan 16 (IANS) India’s External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna arrived here Monday on a four-day official visit to Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris received Krishna and the accompanying delegation, arriving from Bangalore, at the airport on a bright sunny evening.
“I feel delighted to be in Colombo again…a pleasant climate and it’s breezy,” Krishna told IANS soon after landing at the Sri Bandaranayake International Airport, 15 km from the main city.
Krishna, during his second visit to the island nation, will take forward a host of bilateral issues and also review the continuing reconciliation efforts between the Sri Lankan government and the ethnic Tamil-speaking minority in the northern region.
“The visit is significant as it is taking place in the context of the reconciliation process between the Sri Lankan government and the Tamil-speaking minority in the aftermath of the over two-decade old strife,” an Indian external affairs ministry spokesman said.
