Washington, Mar 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Evangelical Christian and actor Kirk Cameron has called homosexuality “unnatural” and “detrimental” to civilization. The former child star who is famous for playing the role of Mike Seaver in the 1980s television show Growing Pains made the comments when he appeared on Piers Morgan’s CNN show.

When he was asked about his opinion about homosexuality and gay marriage, Cameron did not mince words when he stated his stand on the issue.

He explained that, “I think that it’s unnatural I think that it’s detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization… I believe that marriage was defined by God. Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life ’til death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don’t think anyone else should either. So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don’t.”

As expected, gay rights groups have descended on Cameron for the comments saying they were homophobic. Morgan has however jumped to the defense of the 41-year-old saying Cameron was bold and brave to have declared his honest opinion on the subject.

Cameron is known for his strong Christian beliefs. He a founder of the ministry called Way of The Master. He also co-hosts the television show “Way of the Master” which is aired on several Christian television networks.
