Kim Jong-il ‘ordered to launch campaign against foreign hairstyles’
December 20th, 2009 - 4:32 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )London, Dec 20 (ANI): Kim Jong-il, the Supreme leader of North Korea, had reportedly ordered the country’s officials to launch a campaign against untidy and foreign hairstyles, says a South Korean welfare group.
As part of the campaign, men are being told to keep their hair short and women to keep it rolled up, reports the Independent.
“To keep your hair tidy and simple… is a very important matter for setting the ethos of a sound lifestyle in the country,” ruling party newspaper Rodong Sinmun said.
The leader has also ordered that women should not wear skirts above the knee, tight trousers, flared trousers or any garment that reveals the body’s contours.
Seoul-based Good Friends, in its latest newsletter, said the order came from Kim himself and was being enforced by the Central Youth Union Committee, a state body.
Kim is reported to have taken this action after being shocked by the Western hairstyle of a female sales clerk. (ANI)
