Kilmer visits Jerusalem’s Western Wall to pray

October 3rd, 2009 - 12:47 pm ICT by IANS Tell a Friend -

London, Oct 3 (IANS) Actor Val Kilmer has visited Jerusalem’s Western Wall to pray.
Kilmer did not stand out from the crowd and looked like a regular tourist as he walked the streets of old Jerusalem wearing a T-Shirt, baseball cap and a pair of crocs, dailymail.co.uk reports.

He also wrote a prayer on a piece of paper and placed it between the large stone bricks as is customary.

Kilmer has not converted to Judaism but he learnt a lot about the religion while playing Moses in a Los Angeles production of “The Ten Commandments: The Musical” in 2004 and he also voiced Moses in the animated movie “The Prince of Egypt” in 1998.

“I am a religious person. I do pray for specific needs. I do read the Bible every Sunday. I’ve read the Bible all of my life. I also pray for things that are going on in the world; it has given me a deeper sense of responsibility as a person. So to represent the person who defined, who wrote this moral code that we live by, it has given me a deeper sense of selflessness,” he has said.
