Kuala Lumpur, Jan.17 (ANI): There are indications that the Bangladeshi High Commissioner to Malaysia M. Khairuzzaman, who has been asked by his government to return to face charges over the assassination of the countrys founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975, may defy the order.
Khairuzzaman has denied of playing any role in the murder of Mujibur Rahman, and termed his involvement as a complete fabrication.
He charged the newly elected Awami League government in Bangladesh of trying to arouse public sentiment on the murder which occurred 34 years ago.
He added that the government had arrested him before but had to release him as there was no proof of his involvement in the case.
I was arrested before and spent years in jail, but there was not an iota of evidence against me, The Star quoted Khairuzzaman, as saying.
He said that he was considering to resign from his post to avoid facing the governments political vendetta. (ANI)
