Justice Javed Iqbal shifted to QuettaNovember 14th, 2007 - 10:23 am ICT by admin
According to sources, he was shifted to Quetta on PIA flight PK-363 from Islamabad. Stern security measures were taken for the event.
Justice Iqbal was heading an eleven-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) that was hearing cases dealing with President Pervez Musharraf’s eligibility to contest the presidential election of October 6.
The Musharraf regime has also reportedly decided to shift deposed Chief Justice, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to Quetta or Murree as his presence is causing a headache to the administration, sources said.
The sacked Chief Justice was informed on Friday that he would be shifted to Quetta over the next few days, though he has resisted the move so far.
Chief Justice Chaudhry has succeeded in informing his well- wishers about the plans of the Musharraf regime to shift him.
“I can sacrifice and go to any extent for the country, I will stand with the lawyers and their struggle and the people of this country for a truly democratic society under the rule of law and supremacy of constitution,” Justice Chaudhry was quoted, as saying. (ANI)
