Melbourne, July 28 (ANI): Aussie PM Julia Gillard got a welcome free kick in the election campaign after she made a direct appeal to the readers of the Australian Women’s Weekly in its latest issue.

Gracing the cover of the August edition of the magazine, Gillard tried to reach out at its estimated 2.2 million readers, reports News.com.au.

And the timing of her appeal couldn’t be better, for the magazine hit the newsstands on the same day newspapers reported of damaging leaks emerging from within Labor, claiming the Prime Minister was opposed to parts of Labor’s paid parental leave scheme.

Tony Abbott has pounced on the leak, saying it shows a “terrible malaise” at the heart of the government, which dumped a prime minister in his first term only weeks before the election. (ANI)
