‘Journalists with British, US troops legitimate targets for Taliban attacks’

London, Jan 24 (ANI): Radical hate preacher Anjem Choudary thinks British journalists in Afghanistan are legitimate targets for attacks from the Taliban.
Choudary, 42, said journalists were foolish to think they would not be targeted while they were with British and US troops.
He said: “It’s not a wise thing to do, especially if you’re sitting in the same plane or the same tank as army personnel. It’s foolish of them to do something like that and then afterwards say, ‘Why are they targeting us?’.”
The hate preacher’s comments come just two weeks after he provoked outrage over his plans to hold a protest march in Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, the Daily Star reports.
He launched his rant slamming British journalists like Hamer, 39, who was killed when a bomb hit the vehicle he was travelling in with US Marines.
He added: “You have to look at the war in Afghanistan from the perspective of the Muslims in the area.
“If you know there are people coming and occupying the land and (carrying out) air raids and bombing campaigns as the Americans are and tens of thousands of ordinary men, women and children are being slaughtered, you will be concerned,” he said.
“And you will be worried as well about the torture and mayhem going on at Bagram air base. With all that in mind I think you need to see how a journalist or a British or American soldier is going to be perceived,” the Daily Star quoted Choudhry, as saying. (ANI)
