Journalist impressed after interviewing WinehouseJune 30th, 2008 - 1:34 pm ICT by IANS
London, June 30 (IANS) The Rolling Stone magazine journalist, who the troubled British singer Amy Winehouse invited into her home for an impromptu interview, said she was impressed by the rock star - even though she shocked her with explicit photos. Contactmusic.com reports that Claire Hoffman spent hours outside Winehouse’s house before she got invited inside “for a beer”. Hoffman, once inside, spent hours talking with her.
They talked about her marriage, health problems and her bid to gain weight. By the time they were done, Hoffman got to meet many of Winehouse’s close friends and to see some personal photos of a sexual nature.
Hoffman says she now has a different impression of Winehouse, who was recently diagnosed with traces of deadly lung disease emphysema, saying: “I was actually really impressed by her. She is a real rock star.”
But she was also shocked by her skinny frame.
She said: “She was way, way skinny. She looked like 70 pounds to me. She knows that she’s skinny. She was saying the whole time that she wanted to eat more, she wanted to gain weight; she was eating the whole time I was there.”
