Amman, April 21 (IANS) Jordan Saturday announced to have completed works on clearing all identified mine fields in the country.

During a press conference, Jordanian Prince Mired, president of the National Committee for De-mining and Rehabilitation, said that the commission’s teams have completed the removal of about 300,000 landmines from 500 identified minefields across the Arab kingdom, Xinhua reported.

He said the commission would start a year-and-a-half verification process to ensure that all mine fields were safe, adding that majority of these mine fields were fertile lands owned by people.

After the verification process is completed and the lands are found safe, they will be given back to their owners.
