Joint show of Dhaka, Kolkata artworks in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Nov 17 (IANS) Works of prominent artists from Bangladesh and India’s West Bengal state are on display here in a rare show of artistic bonhomie.
Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts and Art Trust, Kolkata has organised a group art exhibition, featuring the works of a team of Bangladeshi painters along with a number of Kolkata-based painters.

The exhibition, titled “Dhaka-Kolkata”, features the works of Bangladesh painters like Aminul Islam, Murtaja Baseer, Syed Jahangir, Hashem Khan and Rafiqun Nabi.

Other participating painters such as Mahmudul Haque, Abul Barq Alvi, Abdus Shakoor, Rokeya Sultana and Anisuzzaman’s theme-based works add a dimension to the exposition, The Daily Star said Tuesday.

Some prominent painters of Kolkata like Prakash Karmakar, Amitabh Sengupta, Robin Mondal and Tapan Mitra’s works make the exhibition more commendable and significant, the paper’s art critic said.
