‘Jesus shooting Santa’ decoration slammed in California
December 19th, 2009 - 6:02 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Washington, Dec 19 (ANI): A Californian, who decorated his lawn with a depiction of Jesus shooting Santa Claus, has caused his neighbours to call for removal of the display.
According to WNCT, the controversial Christmas display shows Jesus pointing a double-barrel shotgun at Santa’s dead body as Rudolph lays sprawled across the hood of a pickup truck nearby.
Neighbours in Nipomo, Calif., called for the display to be removed, but its maker Ron Lake called it a work of art - in which Santa represents the commercialisation of Christmas.
“It’s an expression of my repressed creativity,” Fox News quoted him as saying.
As Lake had built the display on private property, the police cannot force him to take it down, so some residents are planning on starting a petition. (ANI)
