Jeffrey Landrigan Executed After 20 Years On Death Row

Oct 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jeffrey Landrigan, the convicted killer of 1989 has been executed on Tuesday night after an unnamed British company supplied one of the chemicals of lethal injection. The Arizona Department of Corrections spokesman Barrett Marson said that the execution was carried out after court approved the execution. Barrett Marson said that the execution was carried out at around 10:26 p.m.
Jeffrey Landrigan was convicted of Chester Dean Dyer’s murder, whom he strangled at the time of an armed burglary. The police later said that the convict escaped from the Oklahoma jail where he was serving a sentence of second degree murder. The Arizona Department of Corrections spokesman said that Jeffrey Landrigan thanked his friends and family for being there before he was taken for execution. The eyewitnesses said that he showed no sign of regret when he uttered his last words “Boomer Sooner”. Jeffrey Landrigan had french fries, steak, fried oka, a Dr. Pepper and strawberry ice creams as his last meal.
The law enforcement officials said that Jeffrey Landrigan had been on a death row since 1990 conviction for murdering and this execution is the firstly execution carried out in the state after 2007. On Monday, a federal judge of Arizona blocked the execution as he felt that the drug might be unsafe as the drug is brought from an unidentified source and 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed to the decision. However, later Supreme Court ruled out the decision by stating that there is no evidence that the drug obtained from Britain is “unsafe”. The statement also maintained that the dug is obtained lawfully. Chief Deputy Attorney General Tim Nelson said that the drug came from a reputed place.
