Jeev tied 27th in final round of WGC-CA Championship

March 24th, 2008 - 10:25 pm ICT by admin -

Doral (Florida), March 24 (IANS) India’s Jeev Milkha Singh was tied 27th while compatriot S.S.P Chowrasia was tied at the 47th spot at the WGC-CA Championship before the final round play was suspended due to darkness. Jeev was still negotiating his back nine, while Chowrasia was one under with one more hole to go when darkness dropped early curtains on the final round of the championship.

Jeev who had shot 68, 70 and 70 in his first three rounds was one over after 13 holes of his final round when play was suspended. His total now stands at seven under.

Jeev birdied the fourth but the sixth and eighth holes cost him a shot each. The Indian would need a better show over the remaining five holes to lift him from the current spot.

Meanwhile, four birdies saw Chowrasia staying one-under and would return to play his final hole with a hope to sign off in style.

Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra was tied 39th at four-under. The former Asian Tour regular began with a birdie before a double bogey on the fourth ninth ran him into trouble. However, a birdie on 14th minimised the damage to some extent.

Australian Geoff Ogilvy is atop the leaderboard. He hung on to his two-stroke lead over Vijay Singh of Fiji and Jim Furyk after finishing his front nine with an aggregate of 17-under.

Tiger Woods was 12-under with seven holes to go.
