Jeev finishes fourth in World Golf Championship

March 16th, 2009 - 5:28 pm ICT by IANS Tell a Friend -

Doral (Miami), March 16 (IANS) India golfer Jeev Milkha Singh finished fourth at the WGC-CA Championship.
Jeev started the final round four strokes behind leaders Phil Mickelson and Nick Watney, but could not carry on his challenge. He scored two-under-par 70 to finish at 14-under 274, five shots behind winner Mickelson at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa here Sunday.

Jeev struck two eagles and 22 birdies for the week, but also holed out 10 bogeys and a double bogey.

“I could have done better but I’m happy with my performance,” said Jeev. “I holed some putts I wasn’t supposed to, so I will definitely take fourth place here.”

The performance makes Jeev richer by $360,000 and also takes him closer to his target of securing a full card for the PGA tour for 2010.

“My goal is to get into top 20 by 2009 December. I feel I have the game, I have the confidence right now and if I get that done I will be happy. After 2009 December I have another goal for myself,” he added.
