dugard California, July 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Californian authorities have decided to award Jaycee Duggard a settlement for $20 million. The lawmakers had given the green light to the settlement on Thursday with a 30-1 vote in the Senate. It was also approved in the Assembly with a 62-0 vote too.

It ought to be mentioned that Jaycee was kidnapped when she was just a little girl and was held hostage for 18 years. In captivity she also bore two children with her captor, who was a sex offender as well. She was barely 11 years old when she was kidnapped on the 10th of June 1991. She had a long and hard time with her captor.

When she was kidnapped then the police had several opportunities to catch hold of the sex offender who had kidnapped Jaycee. But they lost on several counts, and the hapless Jaycee had to suffer sexual abuse for 18 years on end, and also give birth to her own daughters, who had been fathered by her captor – Phillip Craig Garrido.

The sex offender Phillip and his wife Nancy who was also an accomplice in the crime had been arrested for kidnapping and are awaiting their sentencing in the trial.
