Jay-Z gets tepid response at GlastonburyJune 30th, 2008 - 2:04 pm ICT by IANS
London, June 30 (IANS) Rapper Jay-Z got a tepid response for his performance at Britain’s Glastonbury music festival. Thesun.co.uk reports that Jay-Z opened his gig by miming the Oasis hit “Wonderwall” –after playing a tape of Noel Gallagher saying he was wrong for festival that ended Sunday. But after that it settled into something ordinary.
An audience member, who considers himself a fan of the rapper, said: “That was bland. You need big recognisable hits you can get involved in and after 99 Problems, he didn’t really have anything. Noel and Liam must be laughing that they were played on the main stage and weren’t even on the bill.”
But the festival organiser seemed elated and said: “It was incredible to bring hip-hop from the streets of New York to Glastonbury. We’ve a much younger audience this year. Despite all the doom and gloom, we’re now in a stronger position. Headline acts will now come to us.”
