Japanese govt. asks people living within 30 km of nuke plant to voluntarily vacate

Tokyo, Mar 25 (ANI): Japanese government spokesman Yukio Edano has said that people living within 30 kilometers of the troubled nuclear plant in Fukushima Prefecture have been voluntarily asked to leave the area over concerns of access to daily necessities.

The Kyodo news agency quoted Chief Cabinet Secretary Edano as saying that the government is encouraging people living within the 30 kilometres vicinity of the troubled plant to vacate the site, and added that the authorities would give its full support in helping in their relocation.

Edano, however, said that the government has no plans to expand its designated evacuation range as of now.

The leaks caused at the plant following the disaster had concerned the government to so much that it had issued warnings to people living in a 20-km radius of the plant to evacuate and those in the 20- to 30-km range to stay indoors. (ANI)
