Japan to announce time of completion for nuke emergency
April 17th, 2011 - 12:54 pm ICT by ANITokyo, Apr 17 (ANI): Japan is likely to announce a timeline for resolving the nuclear emergency at the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said while meeting with Fukushima Governor Yuhei Sato that the government would give an estimate in the next few days of when the nuclear emergency will be contained, the Kyodo News reports.
Edano also said the government would take responsibility for the livelihoods of people displaced by the nuclear disaster caused by the massive earthquake and tsunami.
‘Ensuring people’s livelihoods and security is our priority,’ he told Sato.
Also, the Tokyo Electric Power Company operator of the Fukushima nuclear plant, is considering announcing as early as Sunday a schedule for the completion of work to contain the nuclear emergency.
The nuclear plant was crippled by the devastating March 11 earthquake and tsunami, causing radioactive materials to be emitted into the environment. (ANI)
