Bhopal, May 20 (IANS) Investigating the Jaipur serial blasts, a Rajasthan police team has arrived in Indore to elicit more information about the activists of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) the Madhya Pradesh police arrested this year, police sources here said. “The police team from Rajasthan led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Crime Branch) Davendra Singh has come to Indore following the clues provided by Mohammad Sajid arrested from Sawai Madhopur district in Rajasthan after the blasts,” Indore Superintendent of Police Anshuman Yadav told IANS over phone.

Yadav, however, refused to divulge any details about the discussions with the visiting team. “They have been provided all necessary information by me and the Indore Inspector General of Police Anil Kumar whom they have met since Monday.”

A police source said: “They have collected the statements and interrogation reports of all 13 SIMI activists who were arrested from Indore recently.”

The team has also taken note of media reports on the alleged link of the Jaipur blast accused with Madhya Pradesh, especially Indore, the source said.

At least 61 people were killed in eight serial blasts in the walled city area of Jaipur May 13.

Sajid, believed to be a member of the Rajasthan wing of SIMI, is understood to be a close associate of Safdar Nagori, the national general secretary of the banned outfit who was arrested along with nine others from Indore March 27.

Police have also recovered several arms from these activists. Nagori, who was absconding since the ban on the organisation Sep 27, 2001, currently heads the organisation.

“Nagori had his base in Ujjain town, where the SIMI state headquarters also was located, before it was banned,” a police official said.

Nagori, an Ujjain resident in his 40s, is the son of retired assistant sub-inspector of police Zarhul Hasan Nagori.
