Italy to send military instructors to help Libyan rebels

David Cameron Rome, April 21 (IANS) Italy would send 10 military instructors to help Libyan rebels in the battle against forces led by Muammar Gaddafi, Italian Defence Minister Ignazio La Russa has said.

Citing the ANSA news agency, Xinhua reported that the decision was taken after talks between Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi and British Prime Minister David Cameron.

The instructors will leave for Libya after details are worked out, La Russa told local media after a meeting with his British counterpart Liam Fox.

France and Britain have announced their willingness to send military officers to Libya to help rebel forces.

However, La Russa ruled out Italy sending ground troops to Libya.
