Italian soldier killed in Afghan blast
July 12th, 2011 - 9:53 pm ICT by IANSKabul, July 12 (IANS/AKI) An Italian soldier was killed Tuesday in a bomb blast after he got out of his vehicle in Afghanistan.
The incident took place in the western district of Bakwa.
The death of 28-year-old Corporal Roberto Marchini brings to 40 the number of Italian troops killed in Afghanistan since their deployment in 2002.
“It’s another person we add to the soldiers we’ve lost and mourn together with all of Italy,” said Italian defence minister Ignazio La Russa.
