Italian food is now world’s favourite
January 18th, 2011 - 4:59 pm ICT by ANILondon, Jan 18 (ANI): An international survey has revealed that Italian food is now the world’s favourite.
The poll of more than 2,500 travellers, carried out by Hotels.com, found that pizza and pasta are preferred to French cuisine.
Italian food scored 21 per cent, with French at 12 per cent and Thai on 11 per cent.
Britain failed to make the grade with its national stalwarts fish and chips, steak and kidney pie and roast beef, polling so few votes it did not make the top 20.
“It’s interesting to see French cordon bleu has slipped below wholesome Italian cuisine in our international gastronomy survey,” the Daily Express quoted Alison Couper at Hotels.com as saying.
“The results show nothing can beat a classic pizza or pasta when on holiday, as Italian food is deservedly crowned the world’s favourite,” Couper added.
Russian food was declared the world’s worst, trailing in with no votes. (ANI)
