Gaza, Aug 3 (Xinhua) Israeli soldiers stationed on the border between eastern Gaza City and Israel shot dead four members of the pro-Fatah movement Helles clan, as they tried to enter Israel Saturday. Palestinian sources said that Abu Maher, member of the Fatah Revolutionary Council, who was trying to flee Gaza with a group of relatives, was also shot and wounded.
The sources added that Hamas security forces stormed Sheja’eya neighbourhood, where Helles clan lives, early Saturday morning.
In the fight between Hamas security forces and members of the Helles clan, Hamas forces broke into the neighbourhood and chased clan members who then tried to escape into Israel.
Around 20 members of the clan were shot and wounded by Israeli soldiers’ gunfire as they tried to enter Israel near Nahal Oz crossing point on the border between Gaza and Israel.
Khaled Radi, spokesman of the Hamas-ruled health ministry, confirmed that four people were killed and 80 wounded in the incident.
Hamas-ruled interior ministry announced in a statement that its campaign to arrest “criminals involved in bombing attacks against innocent people is over after it achieved great success.”
