Tehran, March 5 (IANS) Iran has urged the international police organisation Interpol to issue arrest warrants for 30 Israelis accused of war crimes, IRNA reported Thursday.
Iran’s Prosecutor General Saeed Mortazavi made the announcement at the 4th International Conference in Support of Palestine here Wednesday, the report said.
Mortazavi hoped that the 186-member Interpol would take effective measures for the arrest of the “Israeli war criminals”.
“Under articles 146 and 147 of the Geneva Convention and article 8 of the Islamic Penal Code, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been given legal authority to consider criminal cases against Israeli leaders,” he said.
