Iran radars can detect drones: Commander
October 9th, 2011 - 8:34 am ICT by IANSMoscow, Oct 9 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Iran’s national defence system has been equipped with advanced radars capable of detecting unmanned aerial vehicles, a senior military commander said has said.
“No unauthorized unmanned aircraft now dares fly over the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Iran’s official Press TV quoted Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili sa saying Saturday.
Air Defence Forces are ready to destroy any unmanned aircraft in the country’s air space, he said.
Esmaili announced last month air defence specialists had designed a space radar capable of detecting and tracking cruise missiles, low-flying aircraft and objects located at a distance of several thousands kilometers.
