Iran hangs murderer in public
September 21st, 2011 - 3:00 pm ICT by IANSTehran, Sep 21 (IANS) Iran hanged a murderer in public Wednesday in the northern city of Karaj, a media report said.
The convicted 18-year-old Ali-Reza Soltani stabbed Rouhollah Dadashi, an Iranian powerlifter, to death in July, the state IRIB TV reported on its website.
Dadashi participated five times in Iran’s strongest man competitions and won the championships in 2009 and 2010, reported Xinhua.
The death penalty is awarded in Iran for crimes like drug trafficking, murder, adultery, rape and armed robbery.
