Jan 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A turtle named Tzivka in Israel which had an unfortunate accident two months back causing it to lose its ability to walk has been given a new lease of life by veterinarians of the Ramat Gan Safari, Tel Aviv. The turtle was critically injured when a lawnmower ran over it causing damage to its shell and spinal cord. As a result of the tragic accident, poor Tzivka had lost its ability to walk until this recent development came up.
The reptile which was crippled made the veterinarians think of doing something experimental. The vets fitted wheels to the poor creature wheels after which the turtle showed signs of progress. The experiment worked out and has once again ensured a normal life for the animal which at one point of time had been badly paralyzed. The wheels that the turtle received has actually elevated its rear, helping its shell to avoid dragging on the ground. As a result, it is helping Tzivka to walk freely without letting her shell come into any kind of contact with the floor.
Veterinarians said that due to the severe accident, Tzivka’s shell had been severely fractured. According to sources, veterinarians said that the shell damage had also affected its spine fracturing it as well. If the spine of an animal gets fractured, it means that the animal no more has the ability to walk. Hence, it is bound to lose the control over the hind portion of the body. However, Tzivka got lucky this time with the veterinarians being able to conduct a successful experiment on her.
