Indonesian pop star surrenders over ‘Peterporn’ sex tape scandal
June 23rd, 2010 - 5:15 pm ICT by ANILondon, June 23 (ANI): Indonesian pop star Nazril Irham, better known as Ariel, has surrendered himself to police over his involvement in a sex tape scandal.
If found guilty of violating the country’s strict anti-pornography law, Ariel could face 12 years in jail.
Two separate homemade videos allegedly showing the 28-year-old in bed with two different celebrity girlfriends started making rounds on the Internet in early June.
The incident has since been named the ‘Peterporn affair’ after the name of Irham’s band.
“Ariel surrendered today at 3am after police named him a suspect for breaching the anti-pornography law. If he hadn’t surrendered we would have arrested him,” the Telegraph quoted the police deputy spokesman Zainuri Lubis as saying.
“Under Indonesian law, police have authority to detain him for 24 hours. We will decide later whether to detain him any longer,” Zainuri Lubis added. (ANI)
