Indian worker in UAE dies in construction site mishap

Dubai, Aug 12 (IANS) An Indian worker in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was crushed to death when heavy concrete blocks fell on him at a building construction site. The 27-year-old worker fell from the eighth floor of a building under construction in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and was killed when heavy concrete blocks fell on him from a crane, the Gulf News daily reported Tuesday.
According to the report, construction work on the eighth floor of the building had been completed and the worker was cleaning up and emptying the debris into a container attached to the crane when the incident happened.
Fellow workers and witnesses are being questioned and the Ras Al Khaimah public prosecutor has started an investigation into the incident.
The body has been released.
