Indian-origin bride killed in South Africa was not sexually assaulted: Police
November 18th, 2010 - 2:32 pm ICT by ANILondon, Nov 18 (ANI): The Indian-origin bride, who was murdered in South Africa after the car she and her husband were in was hijacked, was not sexually assaulted, according to the police.
Shrien and Anni Dewani were two weeks into their Cape Town honeymoon when the taxi they were in was hijacked in Khayelitsha township by two men armed with guns.
They ordered the driver of the taxi to get out and then took off with the car and the couple.
Shrien was later released, but the gunmen took off with Anni, who was later found inside the car shot dead.
South African police said a post-mortem into the death revealed no indication of sexual assault.
Captain Frederick van Wyk said the post-mortem showed she had died from a single gunshot wound to the neck.
“The investigation and search for two other suspects continues,” the Daily Mail quoted Van Wyk as saying after a 26-year-old man from Khayelitsha was taken in for questioning by police. (ANI)
