Dubai, Feb 17 (ANI): An Indian housemaid has gone missing from a Bahrain airport, where she was detained after her sponsor was prevented by authorities from deporting her due to alleged unpaid salary.
The Indian Embassy authorities had intervened in the matter when M T Khadeeja was taken to the airport by her sponsor to send her back to India on January 29 due to alleged non-payment of the salary.
Khadeeja was scheduled to fly by a Sri Lankan Airlines flight to Calicut, Kerala.
Airport authorities have denied her being in their custody. The Indian Embassy officials are investigating the case and are finding out whether she was shifted to another detention centre.
According to a local newspaper, Immigration, Civil Aviation, the Airline and the Indian Embassy have denied any information about Khadeeja.
Reportedly, she was under the custody of the Civil Aviation Affairs until the dispute was resolved.
An Indian Embassy official said that they are concerned about the whereabouts of Khadeeja.
He said we would take her passport number to verify her whereabouts. (ANI)
