Muscat, May 1 (ANI): Indian embassy in Oman is ready to take up all the cases of harassment of the Indian expatriate labour force with the country’s Manpower Ministry.
While addressing an open house by the Indian Embassy in Ibri, Anil Wadhwa, the Indian envoy to Oman said that in cases of sponsors violating labour contracts, not paying due salaries or in cases of physical harassment, the mission was ready to take up the cases with the Ministry of Manpower.
“We are working closely with the Manpower Ministry on such issues,” Gulf News quoted, Wadhwa, as saying.
He said that 24/7 hotline numbers have been set up by the embassy for the Indians in distress.
He urged the members of Indian community to register online through a system, which has been developed in order to build up a record of Indian nationals residing in Oman and to reach them in emergency situations.
On the demand of setting up the local branch of Indian Social Club in Ibri, Wadhwa said the request to form the Social Club has already been sent to the Ministry of Social Development, which is expected to grant official approval soon.
He also mentioned that the Embassy has created a Facebook account, which could be accessed by typing Embassy of India in the search box. (ANI)
