Seoul, May 2 (IANS) The Indian challenge at the GS Caltex Maekyung Open Golf Championship fizzled out with all four players missing the midway cut Friday. Rahil Gangjee (74, 75) missed the cut by one, while Digvijay Singh (75, 77) was eight-over and 107th. Amandeep Johl (74, 79) was 112th while Gaganjeey Bhullar (78, 79) was 13-over and ended 139th.
Korea’s Jun Tae-hyun fired a four-under-par 68 and joined early pace setter Hwang In-choon at the top of the field at the Nam Seoul Country Club.
Jun fired five birdies against a lone bogey for a six-under-par 138 and finished alongside Hwang, who improved with an impressive 67.
The duo hold a one-stroke advantage over in-form teenager Noh Seung-yul who remained in the hunt after a solid 70 and was tied third with overnight leader Kang Ji-man, who slipped off the lead after an even-par performance.
Bae Sang-moon, last season’s winner of the SK Telecom Open, was behind the leaders after a 68 together with Park Sung-kook who carded a 70.
Big hitting Australian Scott Hend rose up the rankings, thanks to a hole-in-one at the par three 11th hole en route to a 67 and lies in 14th place on 143.
A total of 74 players made the weekend rounds when the cut was set at four-over-par 148.
