Indian American kid is champion Spelling Bee in US
May 29th, 2009 - 10:06 am ICT by IANSWashington, May 29 (IANS) Kavya Shivashankar made history as she lifted the Scripps National Spelling Bee trophy giving a third back-to-back victory of the prestigious US championship by an Indian American kid.
Shivashankar, who has finished among the top 10 for the last three years and tied for the fourth place last year, finally saw her dream come true as she correctly spelled, “Laodicean”, indifferent or lukewarm especially in matters of religion, Thursday night’s final telecast at prime time by ABC.
