India to further strengthen relations with Mauritius

Port Louis (Mauritius), July 3 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna on Saturday said that he visualised further strengthening of relations with Mauritius in the coming years.
In his first leg of Africa visit here, Krishna met Mauritius President Anerood Jugnauth today. After his meet at Port Louis, Krishna appreciated Mauritius President for his role in the development and consolidation of bilateral relations with India.
“The friendship and the warmth of relations between Indian and Mauritius were reflected in my discussion with the President. The President has played very important role in the development and consolidation for our bilateral relations. We discussed issues, which were of interest,” said Krishna.”I am confident that the partnership between India and Mauritius will be further reinforced in the coming years, he added.
Diplomatic relations between India and Mauritius were established in 1948, even before Mauritius became independent. Bilateral relations between India and Mauritius have been characterised by regular exchanges at the highest political level. Krishna said that India and Mauritius have a time-tested relationship and cordial friendship and fellowship and India has always looked upon Mauritius as one of the island nations that always brings about stability in the part of the world.While expressing gratitude towards Mauritius President, Indian Foreign Minister Krishna said, ” I am extremely grateful to Mr.Anerood Jugnauth for finding the time to receive me and my delegation”.
