India thrash Nepal 4-0 in SAFF Cup opener

Male, June 3 (IANS) India opened their South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup campaign beating Nepal 4-0 in the opening Group A match here Tuesday. N.P. Pradeep opened the scoring for India in the 26th minute and after eight minutes captain Bhaichung Bhutia doubled the lead.

Sunil Chettri added a third in the 67th minute while Sushil Kumar completed the tally in the 83rd.

In the next match Thursday, India will face Pakistan and will complete their group stage Saturday against hosts Maldives.

All the Group B matches are being played in Sri Lanka.
