India showcases its biotech strength in US
June 30th, 2011 - 8:03 pm ICT by IANSWashington, June 30 (IANS) India is showcasing its biotechnology strength to attract global players for partnership, investments and business development at the annual BIO International Convention, the world’s largest such event, here.
The Indian pavilion, showcasing exhibits from Indian industry majors and state governments has drawn immense interest among global biotech players for collaborations, according to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), which put up the show with the Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE).
The exhibition was preceded by CII’s 10th Biotech mission to US. About 45 Indian delegates participated in the mission, jointly led by M.K. Bhan, secretary in the department of biotechnology and Rajesh Jain, chairman CII national committee on biotechnology and joint managing director, Panacea Biotech Ltd.
The Indian biotech mission visited several premier US institutions like the National Institutes of Health (NIH), University of Maryland and University of Johns Hopkins and had fruitful interaction and business meetings, CII said.
