India, Russia to make multiple rocket systems
September 6th, 2012 - 1:22 pm ICT by IANSMoscow, Sep 6 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russia and India have agreed to set up a joint venture in India for manufacturing and post-sales servicing of rockets for Russia’s Smerch multiple rocket launchers, state-run arms exporter Rosoboronexport said.
The two countries signed a memorandum of cooperation Aug 27, the agency said.
“Complete rocket production technology will be transferred to the joint venture,” it said.
The Smerch MLRS uses 300 mm rockets with a range of 70 to 90 km with a variety of warheads.
