India, EU to enhance clean energy, climate ties

Brussels, Dec 10 (IANS) India and the European Union Friday agreed to enhance ties in clean energy development and climate change for an early conclusion on an agreement on cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.At the 11th India-EU summit, leaders of the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation in these fields, “with a view to enhancing energy security, energy efficiency and promoting the development of renewable energy”.
“They agreed that the results of the Joint Work Programme should be presented at the 12th India-European Union summit (next year),” the joint statement said.
“(The) leaders looked forward to the early conclusion of the EU-India agreement for research and development cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy,” it said.
