Perth, Feb 6 (IANS) Indian girls were blanked 0-3 by Uzbekistan in the third tie of the Asia-Oceania Group I in the Fed Cup tennis here Friday.India have failed to win even a single match in the group, having lost to New Zealand and Indonesia earlier. India will now play Chinese Taipei, who lost 0-3 to Australia Friday, to save themselves from being relegated to Group II.

The result against Uzbekistan, however, was not unexpected as they had beaten India 3-0 last year as well.

India stuck to Thursday’s team combination, with Sanaa Bhambri playing the first singles. Sanaa, who pulled her hamstring in the tie against Indonesia Thursday, went down to Albina Khabibulina 1-6, 5-7.

Sanaa’s elder sibling Ankita played the second singles, losing 4-6, 4-6 to Akgul Amanmuradova.

Rushmi Chakravarthy and Ankita lost 2-6, 5-7 to Khabibulina and Amanmuradova.
