Male, June 5 (IANS) Holders India sailed into the semi-finals of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup beating arch-rivals Pakistan 2-1 in their last Group A match at the National Stadium here Thursday. Goals from N.P. Pradeep and Steven Dias helped India seal the match in its favour while Farouq Adnan scored for Pakistan.
India led 2-0 till the half time and drew first blood in the 25th minute after Pradeep slotted in from close range. The lead was doubled by Dias, just before half-time, after he was fed by a good pass from skipper Bhaichung Bhutia.
Pakistan reduced the margin in the 88th minute through Adnan’s header from a curling corner kick.
India will now face hosts Maldives here Saturday.
