India and Nepal sign four MoUs
January 16th, 2010 - 2:34 pm ICT by ANIKathmandu (Nepal), Jan 16 (ANI): External Affairs Minister SM Krishna signed four agreements with his Nepalese counterpart Sujata Koirala to strengthen ties between the two countries.
These MoUs were signed in different fields like road construction, development of science and learning centres, electrification of five villages and investment in the stock market.
Krishna also called on the Nepal Prime Minister Madhav Kumar and discussed various bilateral issues.
“I had privilege of discussing bilateral relations with honourable Prime Minister of Nepal. The Prime Minister was in India a few months back and a number of issues were discussed during the course of that visit,” said Krishna.
Nepalese Prime minister assured Krishna that at no cost Nepal’s land would not be allowed to be misused by terrorists against India.
India and Nepal share a 1,400-kilometre open border, which has very few checkpoints.
S. M. Krishna arrived here on Friday on his first official visit to Nepal.
This is Krishna’s first visit to Nepal after assuming charge as Minister of External Affairs and is in consonance with the ongoing high-level bilateral interaction between the two countries. (ANI)
