”London, Jan. 30 (ANI): Michael Vaughan is targeting the first summer Test match to make his England comeback. The 34-year-old has not played international cricket since his emotional departure from captaincy last summer.
Overlooked for the current tour of West Indies, Vaughan knows that Ian Bell and Owais Shah are ahead of him in the pecking order, The Sun reported.
But the former world number one is staying optimistic that his chance will come.
The right handed batter was quoted as saying, I”d love to play here against the West Indies at Lord’’s in May - I love playing at Lord’’s, I”ve got six hundreds there.
I feel very much at home whenever I turn up so I”d love to play in that Test Match. I”ll have to score some runs, start the season well and wait and see, he added.
The former England captain said he was faithful in his prowess and was just a match or a bit of luck away from making his comeback.
When you”re out of the team a lot of it is out of your control - you”re basically waiting on players losing form or getting injuries. You just have to make sure you”re playing well. Funny things happen in cricket. You”re only ever one performance or a bit of luck away from getting into the England team. (ANI)
