Hurricane Paula Makes Way Towards Mexico

huravMiami, Oct 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Hurricane Paula is the latest storm that is hogging limelight lately after it gained momentum on Tuesday and is likely to attain more strength in the upcoming days as it makes its way towards the Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. According to the United States National Hurricane Center which is based in Miami, the storm was centered at a distance of 230 miles in the southeast direction of Cozumel, Mexico while a maximum sustained speed of 75 miles per hour. In the wake of the up-gradation of the storm to hurricane, Officials in Mexico have issued alerts in order to avoid any untoward incident as much as possible.

Eduardo Sanchez, who is associated with Mexico’s weather service, has revealed to the media outlets that Hurricane Paula is expected to follow a track that would trigger unfavorable weather conditions in Cozumel, Cancun and Isla Mujeres while adversely affecting the southeastern part of Yucatan Peninsula. Following the alerts that have been issued in many parts of Mexico, residents have been urged to stay indoors particularly in the northern zone of the Yucatan Peninsula. In the meanwhile, the United States National Hurricane Center has also pointed out that Hurricane Paula is expected to move towards Cuba as the week progresses.

Hurricane Paula is the ninth storm in the 2010 Atlantic season. The storm has already triggered torrential rains in parts of Nicaragua and Honduras and according to forecasters, it would result in six to eights inches of rainfall in the upcoming days on the Yucatan and Cuba. Mexico is known to have bore the brunt of a flurry of storms in an active hurricane season.
