Human dominoes smash Guinness World Record
July 16th, 2012 - 8:41 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattBeijing, July 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) More than 1,000 volunteers in China have set the record for the world’s biggest human dominoes. Most of the volunteers described themselves as lovers of dominoes.
In all, a total of about 1,001 volunteers carefully arranged mattresses beside themselves when they carried out the stunt. The team leader was at the first of the queue and used a megaphone to give out the instruction to the others.
He told the others that, “First of all, we need good teamwork. All the participants, from the first to the last, must act like one person, and that is dominoes. Then it must be accurate. The mattresses must be evenly arranged. It’s one of the characteristics of dominoes.”
After the instructions, the leader fell backwards while gripping the mattress with both hands. The second person did likewise and the whole spectacle was over in 10 minutes.
The event was witnessed by Guinness World Records authenticator Cheng Dong verified the record. He praised the team for getting the stunt right on the first attempt.
The previous holder of the biggest dominoes record was held by La Quinta Inns & Suites in the United States. That stunt involved about 850 human dominoes. It was successfully completed this year at an event in New Orleans.
