Hugo Chavez joins Twitter
April 28th, 2010 - 7:41 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattCaracas, Apr 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Hugo Chavez has joined the popular social networking and micro blogging site Twitter, in an apparent bid to be more near to his supporters and specifically the youth. He is also using the platform to speak his mind against his opponents. Hugo Chavez urged his Venezuelan countrymen to see his new Twitter account, which has the URL – www.twitter.com/chavezcandanga
Even though there is just one update from the great leader, he already has around 34,000 followers. Hugo’s very first tweet was in Spanish, which said that, “Hey how’s it going? I appeared like I said I would: at midnight. I’m off to Brazil. And very happy to work for Venezuela. We will be victorious!!”
Twitter would also force Hugo to sum up his thoughts in 140 characters or less, even though he is a passionate speaker, and can go on speaking for hours at end. Analysts say that it wouldn’t be a cakewalk for him, to compose his thoughts in 140 characters or less.
Earlier this year, Hugo Chavez had asked his party men and followers to be with the times, and use the various social networking sites, so that they can fight their opponents and detractors. “The Internet is a battle trench because it is bringing a current of conspiracy,” Hugo Chavez had said earlier in March.
